You, Sales Engineer, highly motivated and local to Salt Lake, will sell Flowserve mechanical seals and pumps to existing and new customers who are primarily in the oil refining industry in the greater Salt Lake City area and support local Distribution to other sectors and areas in Utah & Idaho. By capitalizing on Flowserve’s reputation for design, quality, and service, you will demonstrate a value proposition to our customers and establish long-term business relationships. You will craft an ambitious, lasting advantage for Flowserve by understanding our products and their applications in our customers’ business plans and operations. You will look to the future by finding opportunities, developing marketing plans, and achieving increased sales over time. The position has a base salary with an incentive plan. A company car and cell phone are all included in a comprehensive benefits package, including the option to work from home.

Summary and Highlights:

  • Serve customers as Flowserve’s primary contact for sales-related issues. Ensure all customer concerns are being addressed, including proposals, deliveries, repairs, quality, warranty claims, etc. Manage and support reliability-based Alliances.

  • Develop successful account strategies and objectives to meet monthly booking objectives, and to grow the business in the assigned territory.

  • Accurately and consistently use Flowserve computing systems to obtain quotes, book orders, facilitate repairs, forecast business, etc.

  • Participate and support our regional Lifecycle Advantage® activities, so as to contribute to customers participating in this full-service reliability program.

  • Be knowledgeable about Flowserve products and services and able to articulate value- based selling to position Flowserve as a long-term business partner.

  • Collaborate with supporting organizations within Flowserve to resolve problems promptly and get satisfactory results for customers. Effectively utilize supporting sales teams, including Compressor Seal, Industrial Products, Decoking, Field Parts Specialists, and Area Distributor Managers.

Position Requirements:

What You Absolutely Need :

  • You have 3+ years of previous experience in a Sales Engineer capacity, or Mechanical Engineer, or Refinery work is required.

  • You have knowledge of the design and operational requirements of mechanical seals, and rotating equipment, including pumps and mixers, required.

  • You project a strong customer focus and professional demeanor at all times.

  • You are flexible multi-tasker with good follow-through and the ability to meet urgent deadlines.

  • You always communicate with positive impact, skilled at group presentations and have effective writing skills.

  • You understand the need for significant local travel and some overnight travel required.

  • You have active driver’s license with good driving record required

  • You are experienced solving problems in a group setting, able to lead a root cause failure analysis and communicate the results, work in a team environment.

Some physical activity required, such as walking large customer sites, lifting 25 lbs, and ascending/descending ladders and staircases in multi-story facilities

What Makes You Better:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or related technical degree.

  • Experience in the oil refining industry is desired.

  • Demonstrated successful track record of self-initiated, sustained sales skills highly preferred.
