Position Description:

Basic Function:

The Pricing Business Partner will oversee and direct pricing guidelines and policies for all products in a selected scope / Pricing Approach (e.g., Configure-To-Order, Engineered-To-Order, etc.) The Business Partner will be responsible for engaging with business unit leaders to identify opportunities to spur profitable growth through various pricing actions. This will include analyzing and evaluating data on products, costs, and markets to support development, presentation and application of appropriate price strategies. The Business Partner will also monitor and optimize pricing strategy through process control and variance analysis. Additionally, the Business Partner will be responsible for developing best practices and continually refining the pricing governance model at Flowserve.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Drives development and implementation of price increases using a specific Pricing Approach

  • Works with business unit stakeholders to identify opportunities for pricing value capture and effectively outlines analytical approaches to validate and refine opportunities

  • Coaches business unit stakeholders to build pricing capabilities across the enterprise

  • Works with key stakeholders to drive adoption of strategic initiatives to capture price opportunities

  • Supports Product Management in setting appropriate list prices and discounts based on analysis of market climate and competition, and product life cycle

  • Develops effective segmentation strategy and variance based analysis to define floor and ceiling price points

  • Establishes and manages adherence to pricing process, governance and delegation of pricing authority

  • Conducts regular reviews of price variance charts and metrics to ensure regular reviews of pricing opportunities

  • Leads effective price reviews on large opportunities with cross-functional divisional staff (e.g. pricing committee)

  • Maintains product knowledge and regularly monitors industry pricing practices; particularly for major competitors and distributors

  • Understands current economic conditions and financial implications for the business

  • Coaches new product development team in defining customer economic value proposition

Position Requirements:


  • BS in Business, Engineering, Marketing, or related field with 6 years or more experience (advanced degree or certification preferred)

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency with Microsoft Excel and database programs

  • Negotiation skills and commercial judgment. Knowledge of sales process.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. Willing and capable of facilitating change in organization

  • Project management skills with sales/marketing experience
