Position Description:

Provide manufacturing operations leadership/management for the Flowserve Cookeville business unit based in Cookeville, TN.

  • Execute the annual site plan to meet/exceed all safety, financial, and operational performance objectives.

  • Oversee all manufacturing activities to ensure a safe work environment, employee engagement, quality workmanship, compliance to industry/customer requirements and customer satisfaction.

  • Responsible for 6-7 direct and 100-110 indirect employees.

  • Manage material handling, machining, painting, welding, assembly/test and maintenance for a diverse group of products in a short lead time, two-shift operation that serves a global market.

  • Develop and implement improved processes and procedures. Motivate, challenge and develop personnel bench strength to ensure continuous skill and performance improvement. Interact with managers throughout the organization to ensure the manufacturing organization plans and priorities are aligned with the Company’s operating and strategic goals and objectives.


  • Ensure that all safety and health procedures and policies are followed and all Flowserve guidelines are implemented toward creating and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

  • Manage all aspects of production such that employees and processes meet or exceed quality requirements set forth by the company and customer.

  • Meet or exceed all periodic and annual on time delivery, financial, and operational performance goals as defined by Flowserve’s Operational KPIs.

  • Continuously work to improve processes to support site inventory/working capital goals.

  • Assess manufacturing operations staffing and skill requirements.

  • Develop and execute plans to maximize output and reduce reliance on overtime.

  • Develop and implement personnel development plans including mid and year end PMPs, career profiles, and succession planning for all key personnel.

  • Identify training needs for all manufacturing resources.

  • Develop and implement process changes that continuously improve on-time delivery and quality, reduce operating and product costs, and reduce product lead-times.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and actively champion improvement projects using lean practitioner tools.

  • Ensure company/site policies are administered fairly and consistently throughout the manufacturing organization.

  • Maintain a positive employee relationship and drive improved employee health and engagement.

  • Develop and implement capital spending plans that meet the ongoing needs of the business for facilities, equipment, and productivity improvements.

  • Conduct business in professional and ethical manner consistent with the Flowserve Code of Conduct.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline. Related industry experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in industrial manufacturing multi-shift environment.

  • 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience with MRP systems and a strong cross-functional knowledge of the overall manufacturing processes is required.

  • Experience with external customers and/or suppliers is desired.

  • Solid leadership and communication skills with a strong mechanical aptitude is required.

  • Strong administration and facilitating skills is required to interact with all facility personnel and customers via demonstrated proven experience.

  • Ability to multi-task and work with little direction is required.

  • Able to demonstrate a high level of sustained initiative that will be required to track, monitor and adhere to tactical and strategic business plans, forecasts, and initiatives


  • Experience with non-destructive testing (NDE) and non-standard product functional testing.

  • Machine tool technology experience.

  • Industrial warehouse management experience.
